Walktrough
Villa Mana is surrounded on three sides by natural river stone
walls that rise up to 20 feet. The entry to the villa is over a
stone and wood bridge that crosses a two-foot deep pool made from
black candi stone. Falling into this pool and down the 16-foot perimeter
stone wall is a gentle cascade of water. As well as being an architectural
feature of the Villa, this entrance pool also makes for a wonderful
children's paddling pool. To the left of the entrance pool is a
flat grass lawn with sun lounges and palm trees.
The entrance bridge leads into the reception area, main living
room and dining area. Immediately, from here, one's attention is
drawn to the highlight of Villa Mana; the amazing view of Bali's
famous rice terraces and at night, magical sunsets. The floor is
continuous poured black concrete and walls are a combination of
stone and wood. The ceiling height throughout the house is 3.7 meters
giving a feeling of continuous space. The main dining area has a
large wooden dinning table that can seat 12.
To the left of the living and dining area are the three principle
en-suite bedrooms. The master bedroom faces the rice terraces and,
as with all bedrooms, the floor to ceiling glass doors can be fully
opened. In the master bedroom, there is separate dressing area and
a very large bathroom with a Japanese wooden bath, a rain shower
and a palm tree set under a sky light.
The other two en-suite bedrooms face the flat lawn and again the
glass doors can be fully opened, leading into the garden. One bathroom
has a Japanese wooden tub with rain shower while the other has a
large sunken tub with rain shower.
To the right of the living room is an open plan kitchen, which
is separated from the living area by a floor to ceiling stone wall.
The kitchen has state of the art cooking facilities and guests are
welcome to cook at any time together with the chef or on their own.
Behind the kitchen and bordering the entrance pool is a breakfast
dining table that can seat 12.
Further down beyond the kitchen, is a very large air-conditioned
entertainment room with a 2.3 by 1.2 meter satellite projection
screen TV, a selection of films, books, toys and games.
Opposite the entertainment room are two additional bedrooms. One
room has a king size bed while the second room has a queen bed.
The second room also has a writing desk, where the computer is located—guests
are welcome to use the dial-up Internet access. Both of these rooms
share a large bathroom with a sunken tub, rain shower and live palm
tree that reaches up toward a skylight.
Along the entire front of the house is a covered patio. Near to
the kitchen area on the patio is a dinning table with benches that
can seat 12. Outside of the master bedroom is a lounge area. Beyond
this patio is wooden decking that leads up to the teak lined infinity
pool. The pool is designed in the style of Japanese onsen baths
with four infinity edges over which the water flows. The pool is
18 x 7 meters and is made from black candi stone tiles. On the deck
around the pool are 200-year-old frangipani trees which provide
shade and beauty. At the right end of the pool there are sun lounges
and a bale (covered seating area). Behind the bale is an additional
open-air bathroom with outdoor shower.
Stairs leading down from the bale take one on to a decked walkway
across the front of the property. There is a cascade of water falling
from the pool down one side and on the other side an amazing vista
of the rice terraces. At the end of this deck there is a whirlpool
which floats above the rice terraces .
Wine and dine
Fresh food is prepared daily by our trained chef, and can be a
simple affair or a grand banquet according to your taste. Menus
are available, but we prefer to tailor make meals by discussing
food preferences with our guests. Many western meals are available,
but the chef recommends guests try a selection of Balinese dishes
for a delicious cultural experience. Dinner parties, functions,
unique dietary requirements and special orders can all be catered
to. The chef and staff are able to prepare and serve a three-course
meal for up to 20 persons. Beyond this number, we suggest that guests
consider outside catering which the Villa manager will be happy
to arrange. The Villa has a house menu to provide ideas for your
dining requirements however, you are not restricted to these items
and as mentioned, the Chef will be happy to cook whatever you wish.
